This is my favorite month’s habit, to Show a Positive Attitude. Our celebration color is SUNNY Yellow. Yellow is cheerful - the radiance of the day’s new sun as it first rises into the morning sky. This is the month to work on our perspective about life and to share a positive attitude more often. Sometimes it is necessary to “Fake it ‘til we make it.”
When we do this, we often find that a “true” positive attitude will come about more quickly. Meanwhile, we’ve curtailed our negative ripples from spreading out to other family, friends, and co-workers. Enjoy the moments as they happen this month and especially the joy of Thanksgiving with friends and family. Make positive memories to savor again and again.
Research shows that optimists adjust better to stressful situations than people who have more negative outlooks. This means that working on your optimism and positivity is actually good for your health.
The color yellow is cheerful and stimulates our mental faculties, creating mental agility and perception. It is uplifting and illuminating, offering hope, happiness, and fun. It inspires original thought and inquisitiveness. It is the best color to create enthusiasm for life and can awaken greater confidence and optimism.

Cosmic Comic Swami Beyondananda gives his unique take on the 12 Habits of Unity's Habit for November - “Show a Positive Attitude.”
Oh, no you say. Not a smiley face! Should I be forcing a smile even when I’m feeling down, or downright grumpy? That doesn’t feel very evolved. Shouldn’t I be being myself? Well, yes. And that depends on which “self” you want to be – the temporarily grumpy self, or the you that you truly are, a child and agent of love and joy?
Science tells us that when we uplift the corners of our mouths in a smile – even if we aren’t “feeling” happy – just the movement of those muscles causes the secretion of feel-good hormones. We don’t smile because we are happy, it turns out. We’re happy because we smile. So “showing” a positive attitude might very well create one.
A positive attitude can be habit-forming.

This revolution of good habits will grow because you act on the habits and because you have good ideas for spreading the 12 habits too. As an example, one dentist displayed monthly habits posters.. on the ceiling over his patients - and changed them each month. How COOL is that?? Share YOUR stories and ideas with us and we’ll feature them on the website so others can benefit from your sharing.
